Morey Hill is one of three Iowa soybean farmer representatives on the ISRC’s Industry Advisory Council (IAC). The council identifies research needs in the areas of soybean production and protection for the center. Farmer representatives serve three-year terms on the council and provide valuable feedback on what research topics are of importance to soybean farmers.

Hill and his wife Rhonda farm soybean and corn along with a small sheep herd and small flock of laying hens near Madrid, Iowa. They are third and fourth generation farmers, respectively.

A long-time supporter of the ISRC and valuable member of the center’s Industry Advisory Council, Hill said, “Since joining the council as an Iowa soybean farmer representative, I have been impressed about the innovation and creativity the researchers bring forward. The projects that are submitted for funding all have merit and deserve consideration. Iowa soybean farmers are the direct benefactors of the research, whether through direct or indirect relations, to improve soybean genetics and help farmers’ bottom lines.”

Hill currently serves as Chair of the 2025-2026 Executive Committee for the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) program and was on the American Soybean Association Board of Directors from 2017 until retiring in 2025.

“As chairman of the WISHH committee for ASA, I see firsthand how soybean protein helps feed a growing global population,” said Hill. “Soy is one of the most versatile protein sources available for emerging and developing markets, and the research being done at the ISRC is helping to improve soy in new ways to be included in diets. Whether it is the inclusion of soy in feed rations for pork, poultry, and fish (aquaculture) or direct human consumption through soy flour, soymilk, tofu, or other ways, the ISRC is helping advance to usability and versatility of soy.”

Hill has also served as an Iowa Farm Bureau board director, a member of the Iowa Veterans in Agriculture Board and is a member of the Iowa Corn Growers Association. Hill is a U.S. Army veteran and graduate of Iowa State University.
