ISA Approves Additional Funding for Soybean Research

Iowa Soybean Assoc. logoAt its September board meeting, the Iowa Soybean Association approved funding for three new research projects at Iowa State, which are:

Thomas Baum, principal investigator (PI), plant pathology, entomology and microbiology: “Translating Basic Research Knowledge into Soybean Resistance to the Soybean Cyst Nematode”

Madan Bhattacharyya, PI, agronomy: “Bioengineering of an NLR Gene for Creating Robust SDS Resistance in Soybean”

Pranav Shrotriya, PI, mechanical engineering and co-PIs Shyam Bahadur, mechanical engineering; Olga Zabotina, biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology and Danny Singh, agronomy: “Electrochemical Impedance Based 4DMaping of Soybean Plant Root and Growth”

The above projects are in addition to eight ISU projects that received continued research funding at the ISA’s June board meeting.

Each project will be entered into the National Soybean Checkoff Research Database where readers can learn about the project researchers, budget, objectives and experimental plan as well as read semi-annual progress reports and final results including how farmers will benefit from the work.
